About the Contributor
Florent Risacher is a biogeochemist at Geosyntec in Ottawa, Ontario, with 9 years of experience focusing on surface water chemistry, sediment geochemistry, limnology, microbiology and the intersection of these disciplines to understand contaminant distribution and transport. For his master’s degree research, Florent studied the biogeochemical cycle of the first commercial scale oil sand pit-lake to understand the early developmental trends in oxygen dynamics. Since he joined Geosyntec, Florent has led various water and sediment field projects in North America ranging from water treatment pilots for heavy metals to sampling campaigns for the delineation of contaminants in sediments. Using this field expertise, Florent developed tools and methods to improve the use of passive sampling for the measurement of inorganics in sediments.
